Ignoring merc's damage and static, your setup (https://d2.maxroll.gg/d2planner/9v0106lv) takes 13.69 seconds to kill p8 Diablo. You can exchange CoH for Ormus and gloves and whatever your narrow imagination has for us but that doesn't change anything here.

I'm not saying orb+shield is superior. I think that's where you want to understand me wrong. I say it's up for a consideration and whatever fits your desires will be the best choice. Saying an orb is inferior to infinity is oversimplifying.

the only argument you've put forth is that an unrealistic orb build deals more single-target nova dmg to DIABLO than a standard infy build does

you also think that coh is a good armor choice for an ES sorc, and you seem to think that raw DPS numbers to an isolated monster type (from maxroll lmao) = effective dps/clear speed

infinity welding is indeed superior to any other setup for a es nova sorc
reasons: massive minus light enemy res and insight merc
even the best possible rolled orb would be inferior
you can easily test it with hero editor
