fort gives roughly 2k more max dmg, res, and +life. its a great armor.

i chose coh because i prefer to stack res to counteract -res facets in caster duels and other elemental based chars like javazons. if you're looking for an all around setup that can handle any dueler you come across in a public duel game, i think you'll see that coh > fort despite the minor loss in dmg and life. oh, and coh gives slightly higher ar cuz of the +skills on it. it also has 8dr on it which frees up the second slot in the coa for the reduce req/res jewel. this cuts a coa's str req down to 148 from 174, which, when applied to vitality, is roughly 52 extra life. so basically, 52 life + 15 res all vs 8dr (which would be a 2nd ber needed in coa for high dr if fort was used). if that doesnt make sense, just know that the overall benefits of coh+ ber/res req coa > fort + ber/ber coa.

I love your guide.

I just got a few questions:
1) Wouldn't it make more sense to use 9*pcombs/life ? If i am not mistaken you gain 15% Ar for each skill (besides the extra damage), but since i never had a charger I don't know if that would be better than having 1xx Ar/life GC's
2) May I ask why you use an eth decapitator and not for example an eth ca? (tm would be lovely if it wouldn't have such a high str req)
3) Would Phoenix as a shield work? (I personally think it is the most useless and overrated item out there but in this case the 400% ed and the 20% ds could come in handy, i don't know)

and furthermore I figure it would be a good idea to have a forti in ones stash in case u duel melees right?

thanks alot for this great guide.

if i got a chance , i wanna work w/ this dude w/ a totally difffrent build

i wanna try

1.

Ber'd Kiras w/ an armor w/ lots of dr so resist wont be a problem

2.
or
if u dont got resist problem....
get a um'd gaze and coh.....coa would be a more expensive or fancy way for this build, the thing im thinking is , chargers shouldnt get hit much ....

i love this guide very much , im gonna sell my necro for this charger......i play useast ladder also, if we got a chance, we could probably figure out a new way for this build ^^

1.) i just made a single player build with 9pcomb lifers and the ar was significantly lower (like 7500ar) but the dmg was a bit higher (like 2k max dmg) than ar/lifer gc's. if you have the lifers already, you could give it a shot, but 32020's or 125+/35+'s will boost your ar more.

2.) eth ca cannot be made into a death because its a polearm class. death is for axes / swords only i think, might want to check arreat summit on that tho. in fact, the best axe for the build is eth superior 5os glorious axe but the chances of finding it are even worse then finding a decapitator. i settled on a decap because i was too lazy to keep searching for a glorious axe. the glorious axe outranges the decap which makes it a better weap for dealing with barbs, but i use an ebotd war pike for barbs occasionally and even it has trouble connecting on a barb ww'ing despite having max range.

3.) the build uses a 2hand weapon for maximum damage. if you were to try a 1hand weapon, phoenix in a pally shield with 45 base res would be godly. ive never experimented with anything but 2hand weapons but it is something to consider.

as for everyone asking about a smiter/charge hybrid, i have no experience with smite except for my uber smiter. ive never made a pvp smiter and wouldnt be the guy to ask on how effective a hybrid would be.

adventures, i think you'll see that your res will be low if you dont use coa+coh on ladder. this will force you to switch on salvation more than you'd need to with coa/coh vs high elemental dmg opponents like fc zons, foh'ers, and some sorcs. the only problem with salvation as the active aura is that you lose ar and dmg from fanaticism. if you can evade a casters attacks then you could technically keep on fanaticism but fc zons and foh'ers dont even have to aim, meaning you simply cannot evade their attacks.

Could another option for your armor be a tyrael's?
CODE
Cannot be frozen
+20% FR/W
resistance +20-30
+20-30 Str

Sounds pretty good to me. Less strength you have to stat for your COA plus you can either UM it (it= tyreals) for more resistances or BER it.

One more thought from me about an alternate setup:
CODE
Death Cleaver
+230-280% ED
66% DS
-33% Target def
40% Ias
+6-9 Life after each hit

You could either OHM it (+50% ed) or LO it (20% DS)

So basically you could wear:
COA / (kira in stash for stack resist)
Angelic amu (or Mara for stack resist, or HL if you decide to OHM that DC and 81% DS is not enough for you)
Angelic Rings (or abs rings/BK)
Dungo
Tyraels (or COH, Forti, even upped eth Shaft vs melee's)
Death Cleaver 'OHM' (66% DS) or 'LO' (86% DS)
Gores (15% DS)
Zaka ('BER' or 'JAH', depending on how much DR you already have or need)

Sorry I didn't mean to spam your great guide, just thought of some alternatives. I don't know if that would work well or not, unfortunatly I don't have d2 installed anymore so I can't test it. Maybe some of you can and check how the damage/AR varies
