Anyway u can allways check what gives the most damage between a 40 Ed 9 dex / str jewel and a 30 max jewel. Same goes to 15max/15ias and 40ed/15ias. And by checking I mean add all Ed sources and +min/max and calculate which gives the most damage. Generally the pure Ed wins but there's some cases like fury Druids swinging a 1hander and hc pk berz barbs benefit more from +max jewel.
To the point; why bother mixing? Rare jewels just don't work on armors. The end.
there is no answer to that unless you know the total ed from skills, auras and items, the total weapon damage and the total +Min and +Max from all sources.
