Fort has insanely high defense, bonus life, chilling armor, resist, and the enhanced damage allows my merc to leech more life when attacking. Stone could be a good option too, basically you just need the merc alive to provide aura.

Glass cannon build is not for hardcore. Instead of using 3os 30 dex circlet, you might want to use a 3os 100 life one instead and sink some points in vita to hit at least 2k hp.
