the problem is the clunkiness of conviction aura. Were it instantaneous, that would be true, but I've never seen a nova sorc who could actually 'land' it, without the other person just teleing away. Maybe against bowazons & other non-tele builds. But theres a HUGE difference between just being able to tele/nova someone with your full damage vs having to circle them until conviction sets in and then do it. It might be better for PvM, but I've tried both in PvP and frost nova was just better. They both work, sure, and I've seen nova sorcs that can kill good people, but they just duel a ton clunkier. After all, whenever you duel against someone with conviction, theres a big sound warning every time it sinks in that goes SHIIIIIING and the second people hear that, they tele like a bat on fire
If they're teleing, they aren't attacking. Nova sorcs will tele nearby and keep conviction on + TS (which hurts quite a bit). If the enemy only runs, they will be at a disadvantage. If they stop, they are still under conviction, and now the sorc can nova them freely. TS also interrupts the enemy often enough to get a nova off, where afterwards they'll be locked or forced to run. Obviously this doesn't work in all situations, but against most characters a Frost Nova sorc would work against, a Nova sorc would work pretty much better.
If the enemy teleports a way the second they see you coming, that's bad for two reasons:
A: can be considered overly defensive play in GM duels
B: Unless it's another 105 FCR / 200 FCR sorc (or singer o.o), the Nova sorc can still out-tele the enemy if they are 105 FCR, or atleast keep up if at 63 FCR.
