Why Hammer + FoH? Why not just Hammer + Smite?

Smite vs Magic Immune (Baal wave 2) is easy as pie.

It is cheaper and more effective since it deals damage to all demons (Hammer + Smite). Why get convoluted in D2r?

Lvl 1 smite and fana takes forever
You don’t have smiter gear on a hdin
No CB, no +dmg from grief

Foh + holy bolt is at minimum 10x faster
And it’s also more dmg vs non-magic immunes than a pure hdin when you combine foh+hammer
So it’s better in every way

Even if you have a BO barb and instead of cta you use grief on swap, it’s still only half as good as foh vs wave 2.

Because I’m using this on handheld and I assure you melee isn’t “easy as pie” not to mention as I posted initially changing up from existing foh so the majority of gear is already ready to go with the exception of pride.

the build linked here is hilariously awful

an ordinary (read: not trash) pvm mage is basically a classic 125 fcr hammerdin with pride. your foh damage will be alright no matter what so don't lean into that. 86 fcr builds are just a maxroll warrior meme, never worth taking seriously

Here is a dumber question from me, isn't FoH lightning damage? so do you use Conviction Aura on your Paladin and Conc with Pride?

Why do you need Fana at all for smite and just change your setups to help smite, like Boots with CB... what are you wearing with your Hammerdin / FoH setup boots? War travs for Magic Find? Maybe Aldurs? ... what gloves? Guess you use Enigma for tele and 125 fcr gear, you don't need CbF because you are a caster and can just tele. What helm, shako, nightwings?

Just wondering setup (gear), can items be switched around to compensate. LoH gloves is best in my opinion, Fire Res and dmg to demons, but if FoH doesn't deal damage to demons, then it isn't so great.

Foh for pvm is used for the magic dmg bolts
It has a very great shotgun effect
You don’t deal any light dmg
Don’t need to invest in holy shock synergy nor conviction

Loh only work with weapon attack dmg
Not spells, not smite either

It’s exactly what I’m using it for.
Kinda surprised that on p1 for chaos can use either/or.
