First of all:
Luck is only teoretical even. But in practise some people are on a constant rate more lucky than others. This is very visible in games, espesially dice board games.
Second:
You are right, «newbeginner luck» seems to be implemented.
Whenever i do sp walkthrought, or even on battle net, it seems like it always bring in good items.
3rd:
Computer generated randomness is never random. It combines multiple actions into some sort of rolling to make it seem random. But it never is true randomness.
It has been pretty well tested for d2.
- Map seed does matter, this can be tested on singleplayer where you can set a mapseed.
- Areas visited/seen is another trigger.
- Number of items owned(cube, inventory, merc, player, stash)
- Number of summons
- Number of players
- Difficulty
- Time spendt in map matters as well.
And then you can add on clevel restrictions and mlevel restriction, which results in a ilvl calculation and a then a roll based on the theese.
* Mapseed + area visited decide the item type within restricted parameters. A reliable way of stacking up on runes. As they do not change in stats.
- Number of items owned also matter. The combination of items owned and summons will change item stats.
There is a youtube video about it.
I think its called «its raining jah» or «its raining ber»
The guy was able to stack up on jah rune over and over again, by setting map seed and walk same route over and over again.
Since jah is always same stat other factors can be ignored.
Then he found out that he could get the excact same rare ring over and over again. As long as he did not change inventory. And by changing either inventory, or summon ammounts the stats of the ring would change. I dont remember how and if time spendt in game affected it.
So yes, you are right, mapseed matters.
greatly worded looks very clean, you know i also think i have seen this video in the past of him in act 3 doing chest farms in the same seeded man over and over again finding the same rune hitting the exact same path and explaining that if he alters something something will change and what not this is a perfect example of what i am discribing yes
people may say well... thats on single player etc, but that is alittle besides the point my point is it is also happening on multiplayer, we just dont know or cant "reset" the game seed right we cant play the same seed over and over again
but... if we could some how obtain some sort of information about the game seed we are in i will add on to this alittle more
sometimes i gamble low level dueler mule boots trying to force 20/10 40 40 40, i really hate to bring prefix's and suffix's in it because that seems like a bit to much power and control but at the same time it seems unlikely that they are not involved and here is why i would say that
sometimes i will get in a seeded game that seems to have rolled certain prefix's or suffix's in my gambling screen (sure maybe others can roll but, forwhat ever reason at a much lower rate) how to say in short getting alittle long uhm so sometimes i can find different types of hot or cold games as well clearly but like for example sometimes i locate a game that is very hot with rares its just raining rares but they are not very good the prefixs and suffix's on them are always oddly low rolled 20/10 9res 11res 19res and resistances that are like always under 20 lets say for example like the game has only rolled the 1-20% values (azure lapis russet garnet tangerine ocher beryl viridian) and i can gamble 50-100m in those games and rarely ever see any of the higher values like (ruby, amber, jade, saphire)
i feel like that one is a little more complicated then just checking to see if there is +skills on magical amulets for example which is i think pretty big, once you are mid 90's and ur gambling amulets for example after gambling 1 million gold you should see multiple +2 skill amulets i think after gambling 2-3 million gold as a mid 90 is a good determination of if that game has strong " +2 skill seeding on amulets " in the game, i have tested gambling 150 million gold in a game that has " low +2 drop rate " and seen few to none started with 5-10 million, got almost no +2's on rares or magicals, continued to gamble the other 140 million in the game and over the whole time finished with less then 15 +2 amulets total and i think this is alittle past "unlucky"
switched games and then gotten 15 +2 amulets out of 1 million gold
i play classic non expansion so we use almost nothing but yellows/rares so this is pretty big for i think classic players im not sure how useful this would be to expansion players i dont know if they use rares maybe for circlet gambling or something? not sure what yellow base items they use
but yeah quick summary, for amulets, example, join game, gamble 1-2 million gold on amulets, attempt to determine the games " seeding, roll on prefix's/suffix " if looking for +2 skills for example ensure that you have a strong number of
+2 magical amulets, because of not i think its possible that +2skills has gotten some sort of " poor/low roll " or something else maybe has gotten a high roll... not sure
