Try to use fury with low ar and 100% pierce. You will notice that while the lightning bolt travels through enemies, you won't always leech when it hits enemies behind. Use higher ar, and you will leech as you hit those behind, meaning the javelin hits more enemies. But the elemental part will always pierce, or at least 95 of the time, and unless being blocked.
