This is pretty solid advice. I would say wind Druid though since it will force you to have to play at least somewhat aggressive. Too many people learn to play on a character that can play purely defensive and it’s hard to break that habit later.
Most people above are suggesting such builds because it’s easy to pick up random kills in pubs with them but they aren’t as conducive to improving as a player. Just go in with the expectation that you’re going to lose a lot and try to learn and improve from each fight rather than focusing purely on how much you win.
Another thing about wind Druid is you won’t be as reliant on tanky stats as a lot of other builds because you have summons and cyclone armor so it’s more about managing those than just being tanky which means you can get away with using a really cheap setup and still do well if you play well
This is the best advice you can get .
I 100% agree wind Druid is the best start-off pvp character which cost the least amount of fg to create a decent viable character.
It will allow you to actually practice to become good.
Gear is almost not even required as long as you hit 163fcr/99fhr
It can kill every single type of pvp character with the exception of good bow zons - but if you get 99/99 max block you will defeat them 100-0 every time.
Having good timing is what is required to be a good Druid and is also what will make you a good pvper.
Necs sorcs assassins zons are too defensive for a new pvper. You will never learn to be good if you start off with these
But in order to be good with these chars you must first learn how to be aggressive and the timing of being aggressive.
All pally chars are garbage for new pvpers, you will be relying more on luck than skill if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Barbs will be too difficult for new pvpers, it’s probably the most advance character to use
But druids, the only character you can literally put on a full aldurs set and use a teleport charges amulet and kill 95% of pubs with 99/99 set up while walking around and probably use the teleport skill less than 5 times per duel.
I also believe bow zons are great for pvp learning. It will teach you how to walk. Which is very important in high level dueling. But I absolutely do not believe it is the best FIRST pvp character to use, because you will not learn to name lock/ stomp
