The weapon determines the build


Light sorc's @ 49 come in 2 forms: ESLight, relying on energy shield while dealing damage, and VitaLight, with higher damage at the expense of tankability. Neither build has been very common over the years, compared to an ESFB that historically was the go-to Sorc build at MLD. However Light sorc's have their uses, and Champions. Unlike other Sorc's, A Light Sorc needs 117FCR, and not 105FCR, to reach its max (lightning) break point, which hinders the use of Spirit Sword in both the ES and Vita build. Instead, Suicide Branch for ESBuilds and a Rare Orb for Vita Builds is the way to go.

ES or Vita?

I never really liked playing ESLight, and instead i prefer the massive damage you get from a Vita Light, even if the damage can vary significantly. For this reason (and others) I prefer Vita Light. Vita Light is a great Sorc-Killer the main attraction for me

Helmet

1. Magic 3Light 20FCR 2soc
This is the starter Circlet and is brilliant bang for your buck. Light Facets dont do much for Light sorc's so we use GG jewels instead. Your looking for 7FHR/9str/9dex/15mana (or 30 single res) - GL finding these!
2. (rare) 2Light 30FRW 20FCR 80-90mana
The standard Light Circlet, even for a Vita Build. Thankfully not so uncommon anymore. If you can find one of these with Resistances, stats or the dream, 2soc, great

Armor

1. Vipermagi - The standard Armor for all Sorc's
2. Twitchthroe - Used in conjunction with Lidless "Eld" to achieve maxblock
3. Hustle - You can experiment using this vs a Druid but if played well, Viper should work as well

Weapon

1. 2Sorc / 20FCR / 3Lightning / 2-3 Lightning Mastery, or 3Lightning skills / 20fcr / 3Lightning
Basically you need a good orb before considering making a Vita Light Sorc. The ideal additional mod is actually Thunderstorm

Shield

1. Whitstans - use this if you are using the Suicide Branch setup
2. Lidless "Eld" You might get some funny looks, but Max Block with Lidless on a Light Sorc is pretty GG.
3. x4 Lidless 30cold res, 30light res, 30fire res and Lidless Facet 5/5 Light Die

Swap

1. Insight +17 Medi (ideally with CA and Blaze)

Amulet

1. 3Light 10 fcr - the starter amulet
2. 2Light 10fcr Life Mana amulet - Ideally with Resistances here as well
3. 1light/20fcr - If you can skip this directly to #4, great. otherwise this is the starter "20FCR" amulet
4. 2light 17fcr. Long term you are looking for a Life roll as well, but these things are incredibly rare as 4mod crafts are over lvl 49. i.e. you need to craft at a specific level and you only want 3 mod amulets.

Gloves

1. Magefist 20FCR and Mana Regen, great
2. TO Gloves (for vs Cold Sorc's)
3. If you can fit Frostburns into your build while maintaining (or experimenting at the 105FCR breakpoint) the Mana boost will certainly help in longer duels

Rings

1. x2 Stone of Jordan - +skills and a mana boost, yes please
2. Rare 10fcr 15str 15dex 90mana with some resistances please (you need a FCR ring to reach 117FCR).
3. Ravenfrost - You can experiment with this for max block but your probably better off using SOJ or SOJ + Rare Combo

Belt

1. Crafted 10fcr 24fhr 40-60life - Your looking for as close to 60 life as possible here, and then ideally with either 9str (max for level) or 5 repl (again, max for level)
2. Long term you will want a Thundergods setup vs Trappers

Boots

1. Waterwalks - Gives you everything you really need

Resistance Gear

Unlike most Sorc's we are not using Vipermagi, this means if we are using Twitch for Max Block we will have serious resistance problems. In addition, long term we want a craft 20fcr amulet, and that also wont have all Res. Therefore, we need to supplement our resistances with Resistance Jewels. so ideally we are looking for jewels like this: 7fhr/9str/9dex/30fire res or 30light res. These are very expensive. The alternative is a belt with +20~30 Single Res in combination with a ring with high single or Dual Resistance. TLDR: a Vita Light has Resistance problems.

yes, you ideally want thunderstorm from your orb, but that character does not have such an orb so it had to 1 point it. casting thunderstorm from switch, and not having it skilled or on main weapon, will result in an image effect of thunderstorm, but zero damage.

VitaLight vs Druid

Vita Light vs Druid is quite tricky. you cannot face tank a druid (like you can say vs a fb or blizz sorc) the idea here is to play middle distance, have blaze on switch (or use hustle) and bait a stomp while running down and then shoot up and away. be warned if you are standing still and you get stomped you will probably get rekt, aka die.
