without ll you'd have to babysit him and teleport him to safety frequently. ll keeps him alive through just about anything, unless you're not using teleport at all


Just finished leveling mine (98). I was playing a lot of solo p8 terrors and chaos.
Of course he died from time to time, but it was quite rare and 9/10 it happened so quickly that I didn't even notice it.
I stomp like crazy so he had hard times. High life pool, high def, holly freeze. If you play only p1 then that merc is almost immortal.
Imho life leech on merc is overrated if you have great dps.

I have the same experience just with a nova sorc instead
Many ppl go insight cure coh for life leech
Which i also did for a while
But i noticed my merc almost never dies
So i changed my merc armor to gloom to blind souls
And merc has the same survivability
Maybe because i tele a lot
