I'm playing a hydra tal sorc (-15 res) with 3x facets (-15) and a phoenix

Total -58res
Plus sunder and infiinity merc

I can clear any p8 tz pretty easily


Btw, Hoto + Phoenix seems much better than 30/30 + Spirit

The redemption aura is also amazing for mana and survivability

You need Tal orb to complete the set. Even if you went with 3 pieces you'd still want the Orb because of it's great bonuses.

My bad! Someone earlier suggested using 30/30 + spirit, and leoallil made a point about Hoto + Phoenix (my current setup) being a better combo for your average build.

Facet Sword + Phoenix might be best overall but it's not "average" by any means given how expensive it is.

Well if you have to pick between 30/30 sword and Phoenix then picking a 30/30 Sword with spirit is better opinion.

If you don't happen to own a godly +6 FB +6 Mastery Orb with 20 FCR and 2 sockets, -30/30 is the way to go.

That kind of Orb would obviously bei BiS because it offers a huge paper damage increase while it also allows for Flickering Flame + Phoenix + SoJs while keeping the same FCR breakpoint.
