i have an understanding of the gear, ias, etc but i don't know where to put skills
there's a guide on here but i dont' want to make an armagedón hybrid
my question is how much to put into werebear (I'm pretty sure maxing lycanthropy is a good idea) and what to do with fire claw synergies.

no need for gear advise just what to do with skills

please help

bear should be great with fire claw and not physical damage. i have a 4fpa weapon (has 30@res too) and bear form has insanely high life. perhaps you misunderstood what I'm going for here. pvm (for the most part) by the way

4 frame isn’t possible since the 2.4 wereform ias changes… last year. You’ll be lucky to hit 9 frames with werebear now.

Here’s a copy/paste from the 2.4 patchnotes, and the link:

Werebear

Werebear now only uses the new attack speed calculation that was originally introduced in the PTR
Raised Werebear attack speed cap from +75% to +150%
Damage bonus per level increased from 8% to 15%
Base defense value increased from 25% to 40%
Defense bonus per level increased from 6% to 10%
Cannot be interrupted while performing attacks or skills
Maul

Developer Comments: We've debated on the best way to bring shapeshifting Druids forward. After much discussion, we are going to commit to the modern (Balance PTR 1) way of calculating attack speed for the wereforms. We have rebalanced the werewolf to allow that form to reach even faster speeds than it could previously. As for werebear - we want to deliver on the fantasy of a powerful, unstoppable, killing machine. We've introduced uninterruptible attacks and skills, as well as increased damage and defense. While this will change the way players have played the Werebear in the past, we feel like it is more in line with the intended fantasy. For players who loved their fast werebear builds, we’ve added attack speed bonuses to Maul, but we also hope the new Werewolf changes will offer them the same style of play, as it is now the faster form.

Holy crap, you’re playing on legacy D2, not D2R. My bad! You can hit that 4 frame breakpoints then. (Should have mentioned that, can barely see the D2 under the topic, sorry!)

I always went all in on fireclaws, and the synergies, 1 into oak, rest into lycanthropy. Unless you’re walking everywhere, the extra defense won’t help much from werebear, and the physical damage is mostly moot.

E: I’m jealous. I miss my fun werebear builds. :(

so i figured the synergies would get the most points into them and obviously the main skill (fire claws) and I'm guessing the werebear transform just gets 1 hard point right?

Yep! It’ll be a one point wonder for you, same with oak. Since the spirit will be fairly squishy regardless of how many (not that many) points you can dump into it, you might as well keep that 5% life per skill point always available in lycanthropy.

Tyvm for the advise...lol maybe someday I can afford the gear. All I have so far is the weapon 😂
