Have we played the Tesladin wrong the whole time ? Hear me out plz
Thought about making a tesladin soon and wanted to go for the „classic“ dual dream build.
But when you go full lightning with sunder charm, isn’t using the holy shock aura as main aura even better? Looking at the numbers it is and it’s not even close:
Setup:Maxing synergy’s + holy shock and zeal for Ar and put infinity on merc.
Instead of dream you could get a Griffon (Also helps a Ton with Tele-fcr) and a 4 facette jewelers paly shield. With crescent moon, griffon and the shield you could get up to -80 enemy light res and a whooping +40% lightning dmg (Griffon + shield) from your gear
Dual dream has max of -35 light res on gear (from crescent moon)
And zero % lightning dmg
With offensive aura skillers and rest of gear, your holy shock could be much higher than the level 30 from dual dream and you could gain -45 more light res on gear and +40% more Lightning dmg resulting in much higher aura dmg than dual dream.
Vs Immunes:You would have a much lower conviction from merc instead of self use.
But especially against light immunes, wich will take the longest to kill, conviction is only 20% as effective, wich makes the high - res on gear (+ merc conviction) more effective than getting all your -res from an high Self use conviction.
-> more effective -res from gear + higher aura dmg, should be way stronger than dream vs immunes
Vs non immunes: you still have a 100% effective merc conviction(-85 res) and -80 light res from gear, resulting in -165 enemy res, more than a maxed conviction. With a much higher skill level on holy shock and the 40% light dmg from facettes, your dmg will be way higher than with the dream variation against non immunes also.
To sum it up and compare:
Dual dream with conviction as used auraLevel 30 holy shock
Max conviction (-150enemy res) , only 20% effective vs immunes
-35 Enemy res from gear (if using crescent moon), 100% effective vs immunes
+ 0% lightning dmg from gear
Griffon + 4 facette shield with holy shock as main aura:Level ~40+ holy shock aura
Level 12 conviction from merc (-85 enemy res) , only 20% effective vs immunes
-80 Enemy res from gear (crescent moon, Griffon, 4facette shield)
100% effective vs immunes
+ 40% light dmg from gear
So all in all with my setup, your Aura base dmg would be way higher because of more + skills and 40% llight dmg on gear.
Your - enemy res would be at 165 (80 gear + 85 conviction from merc infinity), more than a maxed out conviction on dual dream.
Your - enemy resist vs immune mobs would be even higher compared to dream because - res on gear > -res from conviction against immunes.
Looking at this, the lightning dmg with the setup I suggest seems way higher than with dual dream. It’s not even close.
The only downside I see is the loss of decrep on merc because he has to hold infinity. Making you deal less Phys dmg. You can still use grief instead of crescent moon just like the dual dream version. But I guess I would go full lightning setup….
Sooo what am I missing ????Is it an attack rating thing ???
Does a tesladin realy need an full conviction + full Ar sc inventory to hit stuff ??? Do facettes not work with aura dmg ???
Or why does no one play with a ~ 50% stronger shock aura while loosing nothing on -res compared to the dual dream version ???
