Can I get a +2 sorc +3 nova orb to spawn? Or a + 3 sorc + 3 nova?

That comparison falls a little short to me. +6 Nova +6 mastery double facetted 20fcr Orb with a facetted Monarch and an Infinity merc beats infinity in your own hand most occasions. Maybe not for broken immunities but for act bosses and every non-immune monster it's way stronger. It provides -30lresi (instead of -55) but gives at least six extra skills and depending on your fcr choices provides even more if you can put on one or two extra SoJs instead of FCR rings. Also opens up the possibility of maxblock.

no, it doesn't. first off, an additonal -25 enemy light res blows some additional skills out of the water by quite a margin. but that's not even why wielding infy >>>>

You are oversimplifying the matter.

You don't understand what simplifying means.

I think it's clear that you're just lacking a fundamental understanding of what pvm nova sorcs need - and don't need - to thrive

but go right ahead, find yourself a 6 nova 2os orb and try it out as part of your listed setup. compare it to the efficiency of a standard infy + insight merc setup and enlighten us with your findings

Haha I have no understanding of the sorc just because I'm ignoring your third pointing towards meditation/Energy shield? You are right, the inf+insight setup bares great survivability. And also Mana for casting is less of a problem. However you are wrong considering it the only acceptable-superior-everyoneelseiswrong-Ihavesuchgreatfundamentalunderstanding-quack-quack-quack-setup.

Ignoring merc's damage and static, your setup (https://d2.maxroll.gg/d2planner/9v0106lv) takes 13.69 seconds to kill p8 Diablo. The Orb setup (https://d2.maxroll.gg/d2planner/bp0106kl) takes 9.63 seconds. You can exchange CoH for Ormus and gloves and whatever your narrow imagination has for us but that doesn't change anything here.

I'm not saying orb+shield is superior. I think that's where you want to understand me wrong. I say it's up for a consideration and whatever fits your desires will be the best choice. Saying an orb is inferior to infinity is oversimplifying.
