I've read in a few places that the energy shield synergy from telekinesis is only affected by hard points in TK. Is this true?

Has anyone ever tried a 1 point ES(but prebuffed) 1 point telek, max energy ES sorc? I currently have her planned gear all mana boosting(frosties, silkweaves, huge mana fcr ring, soj, spirit, with max BO), but if these soft points added to telek aren't going to synergize that huge pile of mana could run dry quick.

This is a PVP blizz. I had one back in 2008 that ran ES and it seemed pretty solid(one point in ES/telek); although I think the synergies were different back then as I remember having some leftover points to go ahead and put a few in telek at high level. Putting more than one point in es/telek is unacceptable IMO for what it will do to blizz damage that I've seen using a skill planner. Comments appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: Confirmed hard points only for telek. What about for DPS skills?

for ES you msut max TK, now with 1 point youll have 67-70% ES which is not efficient. BUt also ES is banned at most PVP leagues or is capped at 80%
I had a guide for a fire sorc with 1:3 ratio of HP to Mana -> 1.5k Life 4.3k Mana and 17k Fireball with 200fcr, made it in LoD and D2r and was pretty fun

20 hard points into telekinesis is required for ES to be efficient at all

blizz sorcs spend a lot of skill points already, so unless you're fine with spending some time on prebuffing you're better off just going vita blizz

i thought i saw someone say that 16 points was enough? just asking, idk anything about es

it's not. those additional 4 points give you more value in tk than they would anywhere else

You can decide if u want to play with stashprecast (bm) where u Swap all gcs or just cube in inventory with memory light amu etc (gm)

1 point es (low % is fine for blizz, but this does mean you still need res), warmth, orb, tele
max telek, blizz, cold mastery, ice blast
rest into ice bolt

2/20 circ
fathom
enigma
spirit
frosties
sojs
arach
2/10 ammy
whatever boots make you happy
use nice jewels, not facets

if your on a budget you can viper + nw + mara instead

Absolutely soj>fcr but I need one to hit my BP. It seems the consensus is max telek. Gonna try that on first spec and see how I like it; dmg is going to suffer. If I’m not liking it I’m just going to go the vita/dmg route

No budget(within reason). My first gear spec is complete:

First spec I plan to use a 3cold/20fcr dual facet magic circ.

Soj/fcr

Everything else basically what you said. I think with all those telek points I’ll need a heavy damage circlet like the one I mentioned. Blizz needs to one or two shot or there will be issues.

life/mana is more important than blizz damage, thats why rare circ+ammy and good jewels

why would you ever give up an soj?

blizz is going to 1-2 hit with 8-9k damage if your opponents dont stack res
with 17k blizz, blizz is still going to need like 8-10 hits if they do stack

blizz sorcs kill unprepared randoms in pubs but lose to good players no matter what you do, so either go vita and max -res, or go es and survivability
