Currently running ww barb with grief and last wish.
Act 2 merc with blessed aim aura and pride for concentration.

Would I be better off switching to an act 1 merc with faith for fanaticism?

Anyone have an idea?

it just depends. if you tele into mobs and start ww-ing? then no. do you use taunt? berzerk? do you need more survivability? then yeah act1 frozen arrow.

if dps is all you are going for then act 2 merc. faith merc would be more for the ias for hybrid builds.

we know! because anytime someone post about using something other than 2x grief someone posts what you did.

Youre better off with the act 2 merc.

Although I dont know why youd want to use last wish with whirlwind, ww wont proc lifetap and for the kind of unkillable physical builds youd be better off with frenzy for that.
