I am looking for the best hybrid sorc build. I see Orb/FB, but was curious on Orb/Hydra since that sounds fun, but need to know if it is viable for MFing.

Once you get infinity, go lightning/chain lightning.

lightning works well if you have enough points to invest in synergies. if you want to go for hybrid, i suggest fire/cold (also has the bonus that you can kill souls with whatever active skill). cold skill is blizzard vs orb: blizzard has more raw damage vs orb damage can be directed in the direction you want. fire has a mainly three options: fireball is good all around everything that is not immune, meteor deals high damage but takes ages to connect. hydras got buffed now, so you can use them to stay at a distance and play safe

All good points. I can figure out the gear easily enough, curious on people's experiences. I want to use Hydra since it has never really been viable until now (possibly), but of course Fire alone is not a strong mfer. Maybe Hydra/Blizz will be the build.

Hydra/Blizz will be kind of slow but very safe, should let you farm some Hell areas pretty easily early on (independent of gear)

The above points are terrible btw.


Fire skills as a whole perform poorly in pvm due to how monster resistance is done. Lots of fire immunes. And monsters that don’t have fire immunity, have higher fire resistance than other resistance types.

I'd try Hydra Orb or FB Orb and see if you like the playstyle. I prefer all Cold with a stacked Merc and Static, since Physical with some Light damage also helps with secondary damage.

Hydra/orb i a trash comparing to fb/orb.
If you play solo then fb/orb is your choice.

Let the merc kill the cold immunes.... get your money worth out of him..

He currently does 11k plus when the might kicks in. Its fun to watch all the poison novas shoot off 50% chance of the time. Basically one shots any regular monster cold immune and a few hits on stronger monsters like lord de sies in chaos sanctuary.

so i figured out from trial and error orb/hydra was best but if you max fire ball and fire bolt instead of fire mastery you can do nice orb/fb damage
have also tried some nova hybrid builds which seem to be viable Nova/Fb works and nova/orb
was also planning orb/enchant + bow merc & and putting a shael in my tal orb for ias which i guess will be fine against one or two immunes at a time but not whole mobs
