I posted this in general discussion, but think it is a better question for this sub-topic. (Original Post https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=91662016&f=21)

I was able to get my hands on a 15/3 5 open socket Berserker axe and wanted others thoughts on rerolling grief in it. I am currently at 42 rolls with my best being 40/390. Since this is suck a rare base is it only acceptable for a 40/400 or does it make sense to stop at say a 39/400?

For my BVC he is currently using a 38/399 Griefz. Anyone solid at Math able to tell me when the 15/3 would be better than a standard base at 38/399?

Just curious on everyone's thoughts. Thanks!

I don't really see the point being that pedantic, 34 (?) /395+ woud be enough for me

The only thing you need is 34+ias then as high of a +damage number as possible

So if I roll a 34+/400 that'd be ideal. Makes sense unless I was looking to resell. How about when to swap from the normal base 38/399 to the 15/3 base?

15ed is more damage.

More damage is good

Yeah i get that. I'm asking is a 34/360 in the 15/3 base better than the 38/399 in a normal base? Or is any grief in a 15 ed base >a 400 dmg grief in normal base?

Just doing some rough math in my head while at the gym, a 38/399 normal would be better than a 34/360/15ed

at what plus dmg does the 15 ed base become better than the standard?

Essentially the + damage mod from grief, is just added to both your min and max damage of the weapon.

It’s pretty easy to do the math yourself when evaluating multiple different options.

Nor is it worth putting together an algorithm you can follow. The math is just to simple.

In short, if the + damage spread is larger than around 20, then flat + damage will be better than the Lower damage amount + ED%.

This is what I was after. I wasn't sure how the ED worked with the grief dmg. Thank you!
