~@~ Goldfind Barbarian: HC or SC ~@~

I have made many types of Goldfind Barbarians, and with gaming HCL, I have decided to post up the items that I prefer that makes up the best GF Barb out. I will include other items as well, but, my main focus is on what I would use and the reasons why I choose these items.

There are many Goldfind Barbarian builds, I have my other GF Barb Guide, but that setup is built for killing and not relying on Merc to kill.

.... ~@~ Setup ~@~ ....
Helm: Immortal Kings with 2x Lem Runes:
Armor: Wealth* / Enigma**
Ammy: +2 Barb Skill: 70-80 goldfind / Lvl2 Teleport (25 Charges)*
Ammy: +2 Barb Skill: 70-80 goldfind /Str/Dex/Res/Life mods**
Belt: 70-80 goldfind / 50+ Life / Some Res / Str/Dex
Boots: 20-30% FRW / 70-80 goldfind / 30+ Fire/Cold/Light Res*
Crystal Sword: with 6x lem inserted into sockets: 2 of these.
Chanceguards
Dwarfstars x2

Switch Weapons:
Echoing Balanced Knife (+3 Warcries) with Life Tap Charges: (Lvl 4-6 / 90+ Charges)*
Echoing Balanced Knife (+3 Warcries) with Decrepity Charges: (Lvl 1+ / 90+ Charges)*

Quote ("izParagonzi")
This setup is based around;
#1 Teleport. This is needed so that you can teleport your merc into killing position.
#2 Life Tap & Decrepify. Personally, I find it better to keep merc alive, also hate switching merc weapon to deal with "Physical Immunes"
#3 Less Magic Find. I seem to find some Godly blue items: Jewellers mod'ed items.
Note: You can opt for an Echoing Balanced Knife with AMP charges to replace the Decrepify one. You may find other types of Echoing weapons with the Charges.

.... ~@~ Inventory ~@~ ....
Torch: Barb xx/xx
Anni: xx/xx/x
Gheeds: 155-160 goldfind/xx/-14 to -15% Reduce Vendor
Warcrie Grand Charms x8 with 37-40 goldfind
Small Charms x10 9-10 goldfind with res mods

Quote ("izParagonzi")
Note:
If you are worried about no space for Town Portal Scrolls or the Tome, you can just use the last slot in your belt to store scrolls.

.... ~@~ Mercenary ~@~ ....
Act 2 Nightmare Might Merc
Ethereal Crown of Thieves: Lem'd
Ethereal Wealth: Archon Plate or Mage Plate preferably Bugged
Ethereal Bonehew: 2x Lem

.... ~@~ Skills ~@~ ....
This Section is a little bit harder to just list skills. You have to ask yourself some questions.
#1 Do I want to have more than 50% Find Item Skill after all gear, or, is 50% just enough?
#2 What are my resistences after all gear?, do I need more Natural Res Skill?
#3 Is my Barb going to be a Hard Bo barb?, do I need to up Battle Command Skill.
#4 Do I want to have my "Leap" skill radius over & above the 16.6 yard?
After answering these questions, you can place the amount of points you need in those areas.

Battle Orders: put 20 into this skill
Shout: put 20 into this skill
Find Item: After gear equipped, get to lvl 18 to obtain 50%
Battle Command: BO synergy: 5 seconds duration per point added. (up to you)
Natural Resistences: Add enough points after gear to reach max or stacked res
Iron Skin: I personally only have 1 base point, and may add more if spare.
Increased Speed: Again, I only have 1 base point.
Leap: After gear equipped, get to lvl 17 (16.6 radius).

Quote ("izParagonzi")
Note:
You can add in enough points into your "Find Item" skill to replace Immortal King helm with Crown of Thieves (lem'd), giving you a bit more goldfind percentage. If you do this, remember that your BO'ing level will decrease as well, so you will need to make this choice yourself.

.... ~@~ Stats ~@~ ....
Strength: Enough for Equipment
Dexterity: Enough for Equipment
Vitality: Rest
Energy: None

.... ~@~ My Strategy Doing Travincal ~@~ ....
Basically all I do is head South from the waypoint (Do not head to council members), clear what you need too, to make it safer for you to roam around. Head to the South end of the building that the council members are, and teleport in. You will find on most occassions that they are North of this location and you can easily Life Tap the first ones heading towards your merc and switch back to main weapons. Teleport on-the-spot (this brings merc to you and draws in the first few council members).

Now use your "Leap" skill over the first wave of council members, getting in between, this will separate them and allowing your merc the chance to kill them easier, also, if there is a Conviction Aura Council Member, make sure that you are in between him and your merc, and try to separate him from the rest of the council members with your leap skill.

If your mercenary happens to die and he has killed one or more council members, remember to use your "Find Item" skill on the corpses BEFORE going to town to get your merc again. You will not be able to Horck the corpses if you leave the area before using your "Find Item" Skill on them. If you can not make it safe enough for you with the "Leap" Skill, then use the "Howl" skill on the lesser council members.

Other Items that you could use based on your setup:
Helm: Crown of Thieves / highest possible goldfind
Boots: Inferno Stride, high percent goldfind
Belt: 70-80 goldfind goldwrap*
Ammy: +3 Warcries / 70-80 goldfind or 80-100 Life***
Ali Baba: 2x lem inserted into sockets: 2 of these

Weapons: Switch
Echoing Balanced Knife (+3 Warcries) with Amp Charges: (Lvl2+ / 90+ Charges)**
Heart of the Oak Flail (+3 Skills/Res) icon_pointl.gif Wealthy gamers x2**
Echoing Glaives/Spears (+3 Warcries) icon_pointl.gif Most Common x2**

merc:
obedience/upped hone> bonehew
(not to mention reaper`s )

especially when you face bosses....

not to mention the fact, that a simple whirler does more runs in the same amount of time and thus has more gold in the long run

tele not needed. you can lure em out and a barb is a fast runner for that small distance from wp to temple

i am lazy.. 12 lems=not worth imho, rather use 2 alis

Your ideas have been noted, I see that you have not really taken in some of the principals with this build.
1. Faster Runs Even in HARDCORE and Hell difficulty;
...A.. You can tele your merc into position instantly, hence no w8ing on it to walk to you or appear
...B.. You do not need to change wpn because of physical immunes (Bonehew > Damage than Reapers)
...C.. You do not have to leave game and leave a physical immune in there and can not kill with bonehew or other
...D.. You do not have to worry about your merc dying, he leeches more life with life tap, so you do not have to recover merc as much
...E.. You keep a very high amount of Goldfind percentage, and getting upto 150k per kill and also upto another 150k per horck (sometimes the bod gives 3 amounts of gold when horcking and killing)

This build does approximately 2 - 3 runs and fills a lvl95 character up with gold (that is in the chest and the inventory)
I should know, I was doing it last season and filled up 2 accounts full of lvl89-96 lvl chars, the reason why I did this, is so that I could just gamble all the gold in just one game and POSSIBLY get better items.

Eth Hone Sundan (forgot name) is a good weapon, 1 more slot, no BoneSpear skill
Reapers toll has the ability to shatter
as for Obedience, no need.
As for the whirler, i am assuming that you mean a WW Barb (if not ignore), If you can run enough games to fill up a lvl95 character with gold b4 i were to do 2-3 runs, then I might concede.
Ali baba's are old school, they are for the mf and goldfind, yes they are not disputed, but I have found more Jewellers with less mf.

08 HMM.

Seen your guide, OLDSCHOOL.
You are for PVP, stay there.
Goldfind barbs are specifically for gamblers.

nice guide, looks solid.

Echoing Balanced Knife (+3 Warcries) with Decrepity Charges: (Lvl 1+ / 90+ Charges
i think these don't exist, just avoid the physical immune. A teleport amulet helps a lot with that indeed.

you can also mention running into durance of hate lvl 1 and back to get merc positioned.

An insight eth cv is a cheap solution also, the critical strike gives it nice damage.
I would stay away from reapers and obedience indeed, since they can shatter the bodies, wich prevents you from doing find item
I also like duriels shell as a cheap merc option for the cbf it gives.

I'd just max find item skill, since you got enough skillpoints anyways.

Make sure you get decent lightresist, since leap does trigger lightenchanted council members to shoot charged bolts and often double charged bolts.
If there are healers around , make sure to kill them first.

You can upgrade goldwrap once for a 16 pot belt.

I personally rather max warcry then shout. Although leap is safer and most of the time better then warcry , leaping all the time can be boring and annoying to do.
Also if there are a few bodies then you can stun with warcry and already do find item and pick stuff up and id it, instead of having to keep leaping.

An insight eth cv is a cheap solution also, the critical strike gives it nice damage. icon_pointl.gif the str req even if it is eth is high (200 i think) so merc needs str helm

If there are healers around , make sure to kill them first. icon_pointl.gif hence the reasons for coming in from the south of the building where the council members are in.

You can upgrade goldwrap once for a 16 pot belt. icon_pointl.gif correct, I like to keep my mf % down

Ok, well i personally like shout for the synergy to BO and more defense for the merc, especially when he is using Wealth Armor (low defense even if bugged, about 1k+ in very nice armor)
With my setup at the moment, I know that you will have leftover points for other skills or being the team bo'er barb in full games and following baal runs horcking other peoples kills.

Indeed, it is very nice guide. Here is couple of things I'd concider too tongue.gif

6x Lem weapons vs Ali Baba's, in start of ladder (and even at the moment), some people who just started playing, and some who have minimal amounts of FG, might have troubles finding Lem's for trade, so I suggest 2x Ali Baba's for starters. If you have "decent" amount of FG you might want to use 6x Lemed CS's, but for "newbies" Ali Baba's offer both decent amount of Extra Gold% and Magic Find% smile.gif

And if you are "rich" in SCNL, you could always ditch merc and kill the mobs by yourself, equip 2x Grief BA's, put 1 point to Whirlwind and kill them yourself. After this swich to popping weapons and hork the bodies smile.gif. Faster than killing with merc.

i wouldn't kill myself even when rich. you holding the 2 goldfindweapons while the merc kills differs a lot in the initial golddrop.
If you are rich i would invest in the merc for fast killing, making it botd/forti/guillaume, at wich point you take eni on your barb and can do pretty fast mephiruns also, combined with the councilmembers in durance of hate.

by the way warcry is a far more partyfriendly skill then leap. Since leap will often knock monsters back out of the attackrange of your teammates while warcry just stuns em right at the spot. A maxed out warcry for it's stun length is a nice thing to have for joining baalruns with this barb. And you will be baalrunning a lot, since to gamble good amulets you need to be at least lvl 90, with lvl 95 the preferred lvl to make sure all amulets can possibly spawn with the +2 to charclass mod.

I myself like dual ali baba's for the little bit of excitement it adds to the traviruns. The mf already got me 2x tal amu and a mara's 30 this new ladder. And as all know, uniques/sets go for nice prices early at ladder.
