I'm new to D2R but a long time player of old to D2.
Nova was never a viable build before, and I'm relatively familiar with Light/Infinity builds of old.
I've thrown together with "Okay" parts to try the Nova out and I'm unsure whether it's the gear choice, or the user (me) that's the problem, but survivability I find is atrocious.
The "user" error is somewhat on me, as I keep "tele stoming" like I'm fireball PVP'ing, but the approach distance to spam is what I'm not fully certain on, and the rotation.
Currently, I try to get 'close' with my merc taking the aggro, pop a quick static, then spam nova f1 f2 f3, tele, static, nova. But when I search the 'old forums' maxroll etc there isn't much clarity on both rotation and distance that should be kept.
In Chaos for example, level 83 with 2k mana ES, I'm instant dead if I tele into Lord de Seis or Infector, and find especially with the latter, I have to be a decent distance and kite a few at a time.
The "Gear" issue;
Resistances are all wack, 20-40 res Cold Fire Psn, -30 Light (sunders)
Cham'd Griff
VMagi (not socketed just yet)
-52 Infinity Scythe
Maras (desperate for res)
Treks
Mfist
Dual Soj
Arachs
3-3-3 Bo swap and rand spirit
20/19 storch
20/19/9 Anni
5 Light skillers
Merc;
Andys
Eth Fort AP

I'm about 6k nova damage - which again, solo play is ample and easy, but in a fully lobby when I run Chaos pubs, it's spicy and I'm very squishy.
I imagine, I should be chasing a 2/20 caster amulet and likely some magic rings - but is it the playstyle I'm trying to sort being the issue?
My "goal" is just to be able to open pub run chaos/baal runs competently, gear/FG isn't the issue, I just can't find a 'definitive' breakdown on how to play, and the actual optimized gear setup
I'm coming from being comfortable with Blizzard builds, albeit a bit slower in clearing, they're braindead simple
