USE Grief pb.
Slow him urself if needed.
Most likely his setup exist of gleglaws gloves as well.

Its a slow setup, but it is to counter slow.
And whatever people say, use cnbf.
U dont want additionally 50% slow from the chilled state.
Hold freeze packs cold damage, people tend to forget somehow O_o

How should Smiter duel BM players then?

im sometimes doing bm stuff with my 99lvl barb. i usualy go with 10x 451p charms and beast plus doom with 10%ow belt and gores so i OW every hit and doing some crazy posind damage with cleglaw on me to knock back the pal and to slow him down. and then im using widowmaker like a pussy. if pal dont have cleansing he fucked...

i advice u to use 3foh 3conv scepter and be ready to smite when barb will try to tele stomp u =)). also pb is realy good since need lower req to pass ias breakpoints. and use crushing blow it realy hurt barbs. and never chase barb when he WW down the screen, try to catch him when he going up.. tbh paladin already so strong = ). smite is very strong vs barbs when u good on pal = ) i have problems with realy good pals.. smiter is god "melee" tier. barb is 4 fun imo.
