someone told me that you cannot trade fg for items in eve?
is this because of the nature of the game or is it an exchange of fg-money issue?

It isn't allowed by CCP because of their EULA. Anything traded for out-of-game currency (FG, $$) is considered breaking the EULA.

You can trade FG for Items, you just have to trust the person you're trading that they don't report you, and you have to make the trades in small orders, so it doesn't stick out to CCP.
