So I'm just looking for a little advice from experienced players. It seems that there's ways to break characters in eve and I'd like to end up with an efficient pilot...

I figure for my first character I'd like to be a miner as I think that would be the best rout to get Isk without a lot of it to start. Is there a 'best race' to start with? does it matter?... Also I plan on starting with a 21 trial and 300 mil isk to start with. What would you guys recommend I buy with those starting credits that would help me be a better miner faster?

First off, people usually send you the 300mil isk only once you have signed up for a subsciption for the game. We then get a plex which we will sell for about 370mil and then give you 300mil of it.

As I've been told, it really doesn't make a huge difference what race you start with. But Caldari seems to be one of the better races if you want to start up right away. I would work towards getting an osprey ASAP.

Download a program called evemon. It can help you plan out every skill needed to work towards an osprey and eventually a retriever.

Being new to the game as well, I'm still learning a lot. Feel free to ask me anything you may have questions on.

why would you want to become a miner and sit in front of the screen with nothing to do for minutes / going semi-afk ? You will end bored of this game in short time ...

first of all , buy a set of +4 implants without charisma , "standard" ones = 70m isk or so . Then save your money for your Covetors / your first Hulk

I figured mining would be the way to go to make Isk quickly... After I Have Isk i can do the fun stuffs i figure.

nah , not really . Specially not at newbie levels ... but if you spend lots of time in front of computer and want to watch movies while you mine semi-afk , train for combat ships and mine in your racial mining cruiser Train basic mining skill at lvl 3 = few hours , and don`t waste any more time to perfection your mining skills ... that should do it .

Once you`re at level 3 missions , you will make much more isk than mining , and you`ll get ready for lvl 3`s once you can pilot a battlecruiser = few week tops , including starter support skills .

Mining is terrible, don't do it. The absolute maximum isk/hour you could make with a max skilled hulk pilot + gang bonus's, is 30mil isk/hour per char/ship. With combat you can easily make 40-50mil/hour running level 4 missions in a pretty badly skilled raven or drake. A well trained level 4 mission runner, or a 0.0 mission runner can make anywhere from 80mil to 150mil isk/hour.

Long story short, train for combat, and try to specialize in one ship type/race as much as possible while working on core skills.

In a slightly pimped Tengu I made around 80mil per hour in high sec space by blitzing missions for LP. That is the fastest way to make isk from missions, you kill as little as possible, only enough to get a new mission. You just gotta work a bit with spread sheets to find the best item to use your LP on and that is NOT caldari navy or any corp that has the same LP store (corporate police force for example).
