my friends at work are gonna make a corp we have a guy with a rorqual and his hulk accounts. another friend with orca and a hulk. then a drake buddy also. i was wondering a good ship choice to help them with pvp issues in lower sec space. but also be able to go pve myself. i was looking into the nemesis, hound, dominix, myrmidon, and devoter. any input is helpful seeing as im a noob at this game. i just need a goal of what to work for. i would prefer to stay gallente but im so early in the stages of training i do not mind much having to go thru and relearn a different races ships. pretty much what im looking for is a ship that is gonna work good with my friends drake.

Drake never fails, it has sick passive tank.. allthough poor offensive, but can hold pretty damn long. Plus it's perfect for new players as the skills don't take "that" long:)

if you want to stick with gallente, go for myrmidon passive shield. similar to drake stat, but no crosstraining, also benefit from drones bonuses. Easy LVL4 mission runner

imo u should go ewar myrm with dps on drones just to help the drake.
myrm can be a very powerful battlecruiser with electronics

honestly, you guys are going to get smashed.
your not going to be dealing with one pirate in a frigate or something, it's going to be a bc/bs gang landing on you so don't even bother unless u got the nuts and the knowledge to do that in lowsec.

the best thing you could do to help your friends in that situation is make scouts, just a basic frigate with a cloak on sitting in an outside system watching the gate to the miner system (about 250km off the gate cloaked).
that way if a pirate gang finds you you'll see them gathering on the gate outside your system or will even catch loners as they come in, giving your boys plenty of time to escape.
