So how hard is it to get in this game?... I'm pretty smart when it comes to MMO's I tried the trial but never really was guided or picked up by a corp... Anyone want to give me some insight on how long will it take for one to get competitive in this game or even self-sustain on buying time ingame with IG gold. Kind of bored from killing lich king in WOW :( need another game to play seriously.

eve-online takes time to get real competitive in because its 6 years old, and training can take anywhere from 20mins for a skill up to 90 real life days. give it a year of skill training and you can be good 6months and u can do some pvp and missioning, but not solo pvp. it offers much, but takes time to actually get into and enjoy imo.

Ever want to try a new game? check out Eve-online. http://www.eveonline.com/ It is a vast space oriented MMORPG with much to offer! Amazing pvp, pve, and marketing. It has a bit for everyone.

The website above has free 14 day trials, however if you would like a 21-day special trial, i have 6 to offer! Also if you end up converting to a full account and start playing for real, i will give you a battlecruiser of your choosing! (you will know what this is once you get into the game!

contact me via PM. I have only 6 of these to give out, so if interested pm quick.

see you in the game!

EVE definitely does have a bit of a steep learning curve compared to other MMOs because of how much depth it has. I've been playing the game a little over a year and I know there is still plenty out there for me to learn. As far as being competitive, a lot of people seem to think that newer players with low skill points can't join in on the action but this is far from the case. Even low skill point pilots can fulfill some basic roles in fleet PvP combat. Yes training takes time, but the good thing is you can train your character while you are not logged in. Plus you can train just a little into each field without sacrificing too much time and be able to get a taste before focusing your skill set.

As far as being self-sustaining, it's something that usually won't happen overnight but it is possible to accomplish in a reasonable amount of time. In-game trading is probably the most lucrative but it requires a bit of capital and being able to monitor graphs and numbers a little each day. Exploration and high level missions are another way if you plan on being more combat focused. There is also production and mining which is a bit more casual but is definitely the lowest yield.

If you are really serious about wanting to learn the game and play it, make sure you take the time and patience to read and soak in everything. I would highly recommend doing the tutorials again (they have revamped them recently) just so you can get a little better idea of what you might want to do and build up some assets. From there, you can look around on the EVE Online forums and find a corp that tailors to new players and has similar interests. Otherwise I would recommend joining Eve University. They offer classes on specific subjects and have a large collection of guides and audio recordings to help new players along. Plus they are one of the largest corporations in Eve so it's usually not hard to find people to do stuff with. I also happen to be a member and officer. :P

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

By far the best answer I've seen on these forums in the past 4 years. Thank you for that :)
