If you ever played Champions Online (same maker) then I doubt you'll want to play Startrek unless they pull something out of their ass.

what a fail post

was watching alot of gameplay video and such, this game looks really bad, graphics are cartoonish (shit) and the movement and feel of the game looks crap
wouldent waste money on that game tbh

I'm also a trekkie, buuuut... idk about the game. Their ideas of "infinite exploration" intrigue me a lot, and I am curious to see what they've done with the Cryptic engine, but I'm going to guess that STO is not going to have one thing that EVE has...

Noob prevention tactics. MMO's I have checked out (meaning at least a 2-week trial): everquest, city of heroes, lineage2, GW, WoW, and Warhammer....

One thing they ALL had in common.... tons of dumbasses. Most MMO's are too easy to get into. You play for one week and you're gg..

EVE.... even IF you play for one week, and buy ridiculous amounts of isk... and buy ships and whatever the hell you want.... you don't have a choice but to train skills in real time or you will get fucked in pvp.
I don't think any other game will match the genius of EVE for quite some time, and the fact that EVE is made by an independent developer means 2 things..
1. what they have engineered in MMO gaming.. will not be given its proper recognition for quite some time, as it is already several years old and still only about 50-100k players worldwide.
2. they won't succumb to the evils of big corp money-making.. stream-lining the game to appease the masses and thus.. making the game suck for people of intelligence.

Star Trek MMO looks interesting. But it will be tough to beat EvE Online at their own game.
