You do nothing for about 2 months of IRL time in order to train your skills, then you go get stomped in PvP.

everyone plays on the same server, you develop your own character over months/years and the pvp is just awesome after a few months ;)

Sounds like he had a sad experience on eve, poor guy.

Eve is great to most, there is much to do.
Just try out the free trial.
ISK does = game currency.

Depending on what sort of support you have in learning, you can basically break into pvp from day 1. Goonfleet, for instance, does everything they can to educate their newbies and get them prepared to jump into pvp as soon as possible, though I don't recommend them as they are unreprentent faggots for the most part.

Tough, this game is hard, I had about 10 friends trying this game ( around 14-15 years old ) and they all quit after 2-3 days...
In IAC I was the younghest with 16 years, i was FC and had loads of whining about my age and being fc but once they decided to fight with me as fc, they wanted to fight with me as fc everytime :)

Had a 22 vs 30 fight against goons i belive, i was im my abaddon with 200k+ ehp ( snake set and triple trimark ). I was top damage dealer of 22 of the 30 ships, i even killed 8 myself ( instappoped anoying cruisers who were standing still lol )
Had my alt boosting the fleet in his damnation with to much ehp ( tougher then a carrier ), i dont even care if he gets primaried because in the time they kill my damnation they lose 20+ ships haha. Just had his ab running and orbiting me at 10km while i was popping ships like crazy :)
Funny thing is that they primaried my abaddon in the middle of a fight, had about 15 ships shooting at me but they just let me warp away LOL

I've seen people pvp with 1 week playtime, but then they only use a t1 frig with mwd and 20km point :)

Maybe if a 1-week old player with mwd and 20km point had been in that fight, you wouldn't have been able to warp away.

if you'd like a 21 day trial, feel free to PM me and i'll hook you up with one.

though i am not exactly 'active' right now because i am currently just training up skills on a new character, but i can toss you some answers to some questions here and there - as well as set you up with a neat little place to start the 'PvE' portion of EVE, which is called missioning.

and yes, ISK is game currency. everyone plays on the same server, but because of this, EVE is starting to show signs of server stress - but never mind that, CCP is constantly working on optimization while upgrading their supercomputer (which costs over a million iirc).

honestly, from word of mouth from a guy that has played almost THREE trials before he actually understood the game and was able to enjoy it - eve is a pretty hard / hardcore game. the reason why it has so few players is that when most people try out the trial - they do 1 of 2 things:

1) they quit, and never think about EVE again

2) they quit, but later on think about EVE, and start to appreciate the hard-style gameplay aspect of it, and slowly start to crave coming back to it.

like i said, i had to play three trials before i started appreciating the game for what it is: a hard MMO. i was so used to 'easy' mmo's such as AOC, WOW, WAR, etc. and now because of EVE, im looking at another hardcore mmo (Mortal Online).

try it though, eve is fun after a while. it just sucks 'getting up' there, but once you get some good things going and plenty of isk, you'll really start to have fun

(...until u have to grind back up that sec status, which is something you'll learn later if you ever pvp in the game)

EDIT: Also, on the first trial I actually upgraded to a real-account, which was like the 3rd or 4th trial, I was able to start killing opponents in low-sec (basically I just PVP'd) after 3 weeks or so of playing EVE, including trial. So 1 week into my real-account status I was able to solo pvp. Imagine what I can do with a couple more months ;)
