It is pay to play. 14.95 a month. Worth every penny if you're into building characters via time and planning instead of grinding.

Ya, I always told myself that i wouldnt ever play a a game that was pay to play, but i couldnt come off of the eve trial. If you didnt already know, they offer a 14 day free trial of them game and its pretty much the same game except a few limitations that you probably wouldnt even notice. After you play for 2-3 months and learn how to make a steady income, you can buy plex cards with the game money, or "isk", and then its free to play.

PLEX cards are bought in game through the market system. There price varies depending on the time of year, and are around 275 million isk at the moment. They offer 30 days of game time. You can also buy a 60 day game time card which comes out to 2 PLEX and sell them to other players. It is also possible to sell the GTC through eve without turning it into plex. I haven't paid a single 15 dollar monthly payment, i have been using isk/fg to fund my subscription.

Started Eve in March '06. Paid $15 for my first month's subscription. Had enough ISK (eve currency, Interstellar Space Kredits) by my second month to buy a 30 day timecode.

I've picked up more accounts since then, and I have 8 accounts I keep permanently subscribed now. I've never paid cash after the first month.
