the highest rate I've seen it gone for in the past year or so is like 1.7
with it recently going for 1.0-1.3

dude doesn't really want to sell, unless he makes a lot off of it. several people including myself looking to buy with no one selling so I could imagine someone paying 2:1 atm. long time ago I bought a bunch of isk at 1:5 and was selling it at 3:1 two weeks later. Supply and demand for isk on jsp is pretty jumpy.

Can't really compare to irl prices though. First of all, that is highly insecure since isk sellers don't have the time to make it as safe as it needs to be, they deal in bulk. Secondly, people value fg differently and it is much easier to trade isk to fg than risk getting scammed when selling for real money, anyone who sells isk for cash has zero security (not even on paypal since it is virtual goods).

Now I'm not telling you to sell cheaper than you are, supply and demand and all that, just saying irl prices are not a valid comparison.

For all the people creating WTB topics you need to take a close look on the past few pages on this forum and realize this is not a very active trading forum and that constantly bumping your topics won't magically create sellers. If someone wants to sell the smartest thing is making a WTS topic and that is what most will do, so stop bumping empty silly topics and wait for a WTS topic instead. Can't wait that long? Then you have 2 choices: 1. spend less isk or 2. pay premium prices.
