the sec hit for one gank is nothing. a few hours in null and you can burn it off.

now, on to the more serious stuff. A vigilant has over 7k bare hp naked. It really depends on his fitting but if he's griefing for fun he could either go for huge EHP or decent EHP with enough alpha to smoke suicides before concord shows up. If he went straight defence that means at least 45k ehp (more likely 60k+) so don't count on any single ship in eve taking it out. at best you have time for 2 volleys before you get bitch slapped by the cops, you could take him out for very little isk by putting together a fleet of thrashers. while that might be fun and a worthwhile investment of time and isk, good luck finding that many pilots willing to help. I kinda doubt he wen't solid dps since there is no way to stack it high enough to take out anything above a thrasher before concord shows up, and even that would require some damn good skills.

My advice is to find another area to mine....

a hulk being taken out by a destroyer is a VERY different situation. love to see someone solo suicide gank a faction fit Vigilant with a destroyer. I'd love to see a solo 'Nado gank a well fit vigilant to be honest.
