As far as population goes, there is just one server, so the population is pretty dense. The entire game revolves around making ISK basically, everything hinges on it, its not like WoW where Gold was pretty much worthless except for potions or if you aren't in a good raiding guild and had to buy stuff from the auction house a lot.

And you'll likely never see a titan, it takes like 1 year before you can even FLY on if you DEDICATE youself to training for titan flying. Then there is training to use equipment on them, one titan takes 2 months to build, costs an ABSURD amount of isk / resources, only a few corporations can actually build them (corporations = guilds), and once they are in space they stay there after you go offline so you have to hide them since everyone wants to blow them up.

also there is a penalty for killing in 0.1 - 0.4 space since killing is an act of piracy and can lower your security status and ultimately limit the areas you can go.

well the unlikely part of seeing a titan isnt completely true.
my alliance is in the greater BoB coalition and currently joining BoB for the MAX campaign I've seen 14 titans in the past week

never see a titan you say? heres my carrier with the BoB fleet in opeation MAX , i think i see a titan daily.. eve is the best mmorpg iv'e played, the pvp is way more orgininzed and structed, we have fleet commanders.. its basicly like the military during an opp.. really fun stuff.. there prob $50,000+ in ships in those pics.. capitals take YEARS to fly, you said it takes 1yr for a titan, its take a lot longer, all your cap skills need to be maxed out.
