If you play, don't give up after the first month. It really takes a couple-few months to get into the game.

Yeah when you first start it, you pretty much get smacked upside the head with information/stuff to do in the game. It took me atleast a year to really started to grasp everything in the game. I played for 3 1/2 years, if you get into pvp or find something you really enjoy doing it you can play it longer then any game you've ever played. I was a major pvp'er for the better part of 2 years, aka adrenaline junkie. Its all high risk in pvp. I quit about 6 months ago, due to wife having our first kid, and im gonna wait a few years to start playin again. But i would never trade the time spent having a blast playing eve for anything, i still talk to the people i used to play with on msn. When you pvp you talk on ventrilo, with a headset, cause typing in serious pvp is very bad. You have your FC (fleet commander) a person who basically leads the whole pvp op your on. Some fights ive been in have been up to 5 hours of constant shooting, target calling, blowing the crap outta cap ships. And the whole time i was pumped up on adrenaline and once your done and calm down you are tired as hell. Adrenaline is addicting :) Eve really gave a whole new view of mmorpg's to me.

my 2 cents, if you have any questions msg me. :)

Like these guys are saying, EVE has a very steep curve. It takes some patience but it really is worth it if you love sandbox style game play.

A very important thing is to find a good corporation to join with players that will help you out. Otherwise it can seem empty at first

If you are just starting out in the game, make sure you go through all three of the career tutorial missions. It will give you a good idea of some of the different things you can do in the game. You can even take it a step further by doing the starter epic mission arc offered by the Sister of Eve after you finish the career tutorials. Once you find something you like, try searching around on the EVE forums for a corporation that helps starter players with the profession of your choice.

Or if you are still unsure, you can join a corp like EVE University where they work with new players and offer classes on all different aspects of the game. It's a good place to further help you decide on what you want to do in the game before you move on to other player run corps that fit your play style. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. :)
