mage all the way

if your going 2 man, id stat 50/50 int vit till you get to 40-50 vit, your choice, then get heals int daggs and robes, nvm heal mastery. also you will want attack charms with ee and heals with ee

you can try to melee till ~lvl 20-30 on a mage to build up a mana pool. the earlier lvls you can use you attack charm to kill melee-shield/imune mobs and focus your mana otherwise on pure healing. thats how i do it if i solo my mage

I'd suggest buying these for early levels:
Tier III staff with 50+ EE. Some LPK or LPA or even +Max Life would be a wonderful add. If it's cheap ofc.
Tier III robe with +200 or more to max life. LPK/LPA would be great if you can get that for cheap.
Tier III charm with +15 dex. Should be able to get one for 1-2 fg on softcore.
You DO NOT need heals at Levels 1-5.

At Level 5, I suppose sometimes you may need a heal or two, so...
Tier IV staff with +Max Mana... +Int would be welcome but those usually are expensive (if they have both on same staff)
Tier IV robe with +Max Mana... same story as above
Tier IV attack charm with 60+ EE at least... they're really cheap.
Tier IV heal of your preference with 60+ EE at least... even cheaper.

At Level 10, you should have enough mana by now to last longer. Focus on getting +Int on staff and robe. EE on charms.

guardian > mage on every aspect

more stats . more defense , more healpower, better / faster charging abilities , no mana needed for normal attacks...

but thats just me ;)

mage starts with 60int 20 vit = 80 stats
guard starts with 55vit 55int = 110 stats
i guess the guys posting before me were a little drunk :P

from what i can see on your guardian you found out yourself already
