Depends on when you play solo or in group?

If solo
-You need EE medium-heavy armors (leather-scale-chain-plate)
-You need EE weapon (sword, axe anything fighter can wear) but stick with 1 kind of weapon because you are going to stat it for the ratio, check here for the STR-DEX ratio http://ladderslasher.d2jsp.org/index.php?g=3
you should always aim for that ratio.
-Depending on the weapon you use you either need a DEX or a STR charm.
- Abilities: powerstrike all the way

In group
-You can go full DMG if there is already a tanker
-You can go and be a tanker self.
- abilities: powerstrike, bottomsup and maybe backstab (depends on how good your weapon is)

If you want to be a tanker put the first 10-15 points in to vit and the rest depending on your weapon.
