Concerning weapon and armor choice

would like to have a quick answer

If you're a mage there isn't much choice. Daggers + staffs with robes/padded robes.

Unless you mean stats:
At level 1 i suggest ~200-300 mana weapon or armor, 12-15 int weapon/robe (obviously mana wep with int armor, or int wep mana robe) as starting mana is a little low (or you can melee lower levels). Also consider some +life
Charms: EE

Eventually you are simply looking for high intel weapons/robes.

thanks, and how do i place stats at lower levels? just put al into intelligence or do i need to take some vitality aswell?

that's you choice. 1-5 vita can be useful as it means you'll get a bit more hp so a little less fragile, but the main idea is to sit at the back, with a damage charm and a heal charm and just heal anyone when needed ;)

Personally, i would melee from 1-10 anyway and grab a +200-300 hp robe (will cost ~1 fg), this means i would have the early hp, and wouldn't need mana for damage.
Once i reach level 10 with a mage i'd consider casting, as then i'd have a little more health and hopefully a heal charm and a decent portion of mana.

So personally all int would be the way i'd take it.
There's nothing wrong with being safe and putting a few into vita, 1-5 int is not going to make a massive difference eventually.

I recommend at least 5 of your starting points to Vita, if not all 10. Then stat the rest to Intelligence. The +Vita will really help you later on, Mages are paper thin and need that HP boost to stay alive!

I would also try to melee early on, just attack with your weapon and gain some levels, your mana pool will increase as you go as mclarke has said.

Make sure to keep a heal charm on you for those tricky situations, people will be expecting you to heal them if need be, and they tend to frown upon non-healing casters with large mana pools.
