First of all, welcome to LS!
There are multiple ways to play Guardian.
If you want to solo, you can stat to a vita total of 70-80, and then rest into intelligence/str. You can then equip all str gear. You will still do decent damage and be able to heal. I am a fan of salvation ability with this build. You can also utilize powerstrike to help you with evil presence mobs.
You can also go tanker/healer. Ignores your own damage, but helpful to groups. Stat vita to
at least 70 and then rest into intelligence. Get gear with heal mastery/intelligence/max mana/max life if possible. Heal mastery is probably your best stat with this build since it will be expensive to acquire gear with multiple stats. Once again I feel like salvation is a good ability. I am not really a fan of multi-heal, but people have their preferences. These are certainly not the only way to play them, just two that I have tried so far and have worked well.
