whats better? softcore/hardcore

I hate to say it but if quick profits are what you are after, than poker is probably better than LS.

You will need to invest TIME and FG here to make profits, but mostly the TIME aspect. It's either that or have one hell of a lucky streak and find something crazy on your first climb. It happens, but it is the exception to the rule and is rare indeed.

This. Obviously LS isn't a profit-earner if you're looking at a traditional slow, climb-after-climb progression... but with that kind of investment capital he could jump straight to endgame gear.
