So i like swords and got already a decent set.

Today i was told that i need dex for tanking better.

I want to use my swords but also be in front position for tanking, since ive bought a 220 ee mail today.

Just passed to sammy and wanted to know if i really have to skill dex for better tanking and how much? Or still only Str?

Thanks in advance.

First stat vita until its 75 ~ this will help you absorb more damage at the high levels when more damage is being dealt and help you be more of a beefy tank.
After that based on what gear you may have, keep to the 75/25 ratio of str and dex with the remaining 46+ base points you will have left over when you are at level 71 ~ I would use a nice str charm with the nice ee chain you bought and that will work great.
Basically, you will always want to have 2x more str with whatever dex points you have with all your gear on when you are using swords.

I would put anything in str, and try to get a decent vita-charm with dex or int as add instead the other way round... Vita is really, really cheap compared to str.

You can "switch to tank mode", you deal better Damage the early lvls + you save fgs.

its better to hard stat vita first so you will build more max life every time you level.

yes, but it does not matter if you have 2k life or even 4k if you have a healer in the group. All that counts is the damage-reduction, and you get this from charms as well...

EDIT: life got less important, because you cant play arena no more. In a full group, you almost always have a healer to keep the tank alive, no matter what its max hp might be. Anything above 30 starting vit works fine imo...

I am a hardcore player with plenty mqs under my belt and when it come to stating vita I guess old habits die hard.
I'm always thankful to have the extra life buffer so that I dont have to worry so much if the healer or I lags or goes afk in the middle of game plus it makes it easier on healer cause he can hold back some heals and save mana. I mean when you have these quests come up you can have all the monsters hit you all at once and do some high damage on to the tanker and if the healer is not making high enough heals then you rip. In sc ripping is not so much of a problem, but as I said "im a Hc player".

Anyhow, I have been playing around with alot of builds and the best tanking possibility "stat wise" I have had at one point was a guardian with 90 vita 160 intel 100dex and 60str using ee plates and str/dex glyphs and polearm to do some damage when needed. It had no block or parry on it but still was getting hit for 0's almost every time, but this was before this newest update yet I think this would still do great even today.

This is interesting...do you have any data how dex affects crits from mobs?
