I highly suggest barb as your first class. Get ~75 vit with your starting points and first few levels. NEVER save points in this game like in D2. Then at this point you want to put stats into strength/dex fairly evenly. Its hard to predict what gear you'll have for a first climb, but you want them pretty even after gear is taken into effect.

Weapons - I recommend Swords. The reason for swords is you can use them for the first 3 classes. Swords are the second most expensive weapon type, but at low EE you should be able to get new weapons of any kind for ~1-3fg. Dont spend more than 1-3fg tho on each upgrade(judging by your current gold that is, if you have more feel free to spend whatever you want).

Armors - Get armors with EE if you can. Chain/Plate are better at low end EEs. Scale/leather are much better at high EEs. Padded robes are actually really cost effective, but people will call you a noob, so I wouldnt recommend it to start with.

Charms - Only your main charm slot matters for stats. In that slot I'd recommend buying a dex charm. Higher the dex the better, level requirement doesnt really matter as long as you can use it. Dont upgrade this often unless its really cheap. Strength is great too, but usually more expensive.

Life Regen - Again higher the better and level req doesnt matter as long as you can use it. This is more for solo play, but since a group isnt guaranteed, get some for each 3 slots
