if ur lvl 7 prof and use a lvl 10 pole does it subtract dura? what does dura actually do i see little difference? and does amount of dura effect the amount of xp?

Durability just makes the rod stronger, so it can handle higher level fish.
And no, using a level 10 pole at prof level 7 does not subtract durability.

it depends on the level you input into the box. when you click on the fishing icon, you'll be asked what level you want to fish at.

Keep in mind you are able to use a rod within 10 levels of your prof, meaning you wont be able to use that level 20 rod.
