I wouldn't suggest making a character just to PK, hardly anyone ever does that in ladder slasher.

If you'd like to make a magician to climb the ladder with, I'd suggest :

First 10 stats into vitality, and the rest into intelligence.
For level 1-10 or 15 use max mana weapons/robes
For level 15 - mq use intelligence weapons/robes

Always look for enhanced effect on your charms, and don't forget a heal charm with enhanced effect to put in your Accessory Slot

Buy mana regen gear for your climb to regenerate your mana once you're out.
