I will give you two characters to start with, there pros, and there cons. The other 3 are a little more specific and are not fit for new comers.
Option 1:
The Rogue.
Pros :
The rogue can use every type of weapon, making it easy to find a suitable weapon for your character.
The rogue has a nice amount of starting intelligence, so using a heal charm will be more effective.
Cons :
The rogue doesn't start with a huge life pool, which can be costly with not that great of gear
Rogues can only use scales and robes, so it may be harder to find cheap nice armor.
The build :
Use enhanced effect weapons, enhanced effect scale/leather armors (or strength robes/scales/leathers) and a dexterity or strength charm.
Try to keep your strength about 20 - 30 points about your dexterity.
The fighter :
Pros :
The fighter is a great all around character, it starts with nice melee stats and nice vitality so it can take a beating.
Fighters can use plates as well as robes and scale armors, so finding an armor won't be a problem
Cons :
Fighters start with hardly any intelligence, making casters hit them harder and them not be able to heal as well
Fighters can't use all the weapons, so some good weapons you may be unable to use
The build :
It is somewhat similar to the rogue. Definitely get enhanced effect armor (not robe) and an enhanced effect weapon.
Get a strength or a dexterity charm and try to keep your strength about 20 - 30 points above your dexterity.
