Yeah when you are just starting at low levels, you should try to go as far as you can before you need to use a fishing rod. For me it was level 9 before I really needed to use a rod. now im at level 20 and cant go forward without a rod. But, the cool thing is lower levels, like level 10 for me I can catch those fish in 3-4 clicks.
Cooking and stacking is easy, just keep a nice/middle/low stack per each kind of fish you catch for both mana and life so you will have nice averages. -- Keep every fish you catch cause that always equals exp and regen.
