So I just started getting fishies this morning. Ive caught, cooked, and stacked the sardines. Just a couple questions...

If this has been posted in a guide somewhere I've missed sorry, and please direct me to that.

So I have elm fishing rod, and i've noticed it's not usable. Is there any way im supposed to be able to tell when I can? Like what ranks are what poles, like as to equipment and lvls.

Also what lvl fish to reel in with what rank of proficiency?


1 last thing I've seen NaRa's guide, but it didn't give much help. Sorry NaRa ;(

I'm sort of guessing here, but I think you can use the elm rod at rank 7 in fishing. As for EE on fishes, it is the result of suffusencing them with an essence http://ladderslasher.d2jsp.org/index.php?g=7#Suffusencing

Just needa confirm it's the rank 7 elm and such. I wanna figure out a way to tell myself... cuz im not sure what rank 7 is in fishing for ladder slasher lol

At level 0 you should be using splintered (tier I) rods. At rank 5 you should switch to pine (tier II). At rank 10 you should switch to elm (tier III) and so on.
I believe that you can use rods out of your tier range, but they won't be nearly as effective.

I'm not 100% sure of those numbers... I'll PM someone who fishes and get them to come in and clear this up

I have found it easier to fish with rods that are about 5 levels above your fishing level, with the obvious exception to being at level 1 and required to use Splintered only.

Example, I have a tougher time catching fish with a +43 durability level 10 rod, than with a +21 durability level 15 rod. I have rank 10 Fishing.

i went from rank 0 fishing to rank 7 or 8 on a tier 2 rod with 23 durability, around then i switched to a tier 3 rod but you'll see if you have both tiers if you're too low for that tier each reel wont pull the fish in that much. EE on fish is from suffescening. Its all personal preference but just make sure to let the line go before you break the rod :-D
