alright so i just passed from pally to monk and i've got no idea where to start
lookin for a cheap way to mq my monk as almost none of my gear from feeder-pally is usuable
what is the suggested build for a monk melee or caster? ( i don't think i can afford a hybrid)

Caster will be hard if you don't have ample fg.

I suggest being a hybrid.
Get enhanced effect staffs, they will be the cheapest.
Get strength robes.
Get strength/hm/int charms.
Heal mastery and intelligence are two bonus mods.

Get a nice enhanced effect heal to put in your accessory slot.

Get about 50 - 65 intelligence, and just a whackadoodle down those monsters!

Staffs are very cheap compared to other weapons. I'd suggest going with that. It is so painful to climb a monk if you're not a hybrid. I have a friend that does 3 chains with his mq setup and he averages 900 damage in catas. If you're not going hybrid, then I suggest getting str items and just catacombing. I'm also assuming you still have your items from earlier classes so you can always use those. Get staffs and str robes and cata your way up

Dex stuff is generally cheaper so if you REALLY can't afford strength stuff, go dex and just stat strength.
Monks are painful for those without resources.

almost all my gear from earlier climbs was heavy armors
i got a heal set for my guard tho
so it probably a toss up between buying str/dex robes and staffs
and using my dex charm set

I got a nice staff for sale

Staves: ee
Armor: Str/dex (hm/int)
Charm: Str/dex (hm/int)
Acc. Charm: ee
