Ok so im a huge noob at slashing. I am currently level 11, class Guardian.

Now, when i try to fish i dont fucking get it. I put my rod in the square (before i was using the freeroamers rod, thought it would automaticly use my rod)

But when i put my rod in the box, and click Fish, it wont fish.. just sits there. the rods a level 10 requirment, and im level 11.

Anybody have any idea why i can fish with my rod? (i just bought it, so it cant be broken)

While you are a level 11 guardian, you have no fishing levels, or proficiency. Try using a splintered or loaner rod to fish and you'll gain proficiency points

My advice when starting to fish would to just use the loner rod. If you can learn how to successfully fish without a rod, once you do decide to use a rod you will almost never fail.

My advice for fishing itself is to let the fish fight first. Always counter what it does. Let him go first and then base your actions off that.

Ok thanks for ur help dudes, just 1 more question on the actual mechanics of fishing..

I know im supposed to reel when their bar moves, and counter-snag when they snag, but am i supposed to try and counter right away? or do i spamclick? or do i try to wait a few secs (before they go again) and then counter? im a tad confused, but im doing pretty damn good with the loaner rod so far.

Click and hold reel until a snag pops up, then immediately click the snag counter.
No need to hold/click many many times. 1 or two will suffice.
