Try and follow the Fighter Guide. :)

It should answer all your basic questions.

And as for fg, get to the highest level you can, and when you can go no further, reroll and see what you can find on your next climb.

Sell any arcane + items for 1-2 fg on market place.

If using sword --> 110dex/rest str
If using axe --> all str

Go with the sword. just over 100 dex will do.
