It's better than pure melee in my opinion, but I would always choose some form of casting over not casting at all

There are pretty much two ways to go about it; either go 100% int, or get your int up to ~50 and then put the rest of the points out as if you were playing full melee.


For gear, it's best to get a combo of HM/Stats (Str/Dex) but those items tend to be pretty expensive, so I'd go for at least EE on your weapon and heal charm and then either HM or Str/Dex on your armour and main charm.
A problem with hybrid or caster samurai is the 10 base int which makes it tied for the second worst caster in the game, that doesn't mean it isn't possible though. I've seen some people do some downright amazing things with a hybrid samurai (but they had beastly gear... so it balances it out)

ofc any class can be good and a hybrid sammy is no exception however, cost is a big issue.

Hybrids are not only costly but dififcult to build based on the gear you can find. I'd say the market right now is pretty tied up for solid hybrid gear all throughout.
So your best bet would be decent hybrid gear which would still cause you to solo quite slow at the higher levels 30-55.

I go pure melee at those levels meaning that I deal the highest possible damage and it still comes out to 4-5 minutes. A hybrid with mediocre gear will take 9-10 minutes which
imo time would be better invested waiting for a catacomb game at peak times usually 4pm-7pm est.

if you choose to build one though. EE on your weapon should be priority and is also easier to find and a better investment fg wise being that you can later
sell and switch to pure melee with the same weapon. Then the rest I agree with the above. mix of hm/stats from your charm and armor.
people usually do hm on their armor and stats on their main charm.
