im new to the game too, but I think I can answer..

there are three ways you can level:
1) monsters from arena
2) catacombs (its multiplayer, you kill a lots of monster side-by-side with other players)
3) well of evil (harder monsters, you get more experience.. you have to throw a non-magical item inside)

i think those are the ways you can level!

The skills provide a small amount of EXP (eg, transmuting, glyphing, etc.....)

They will take you to within 1 EXP of the next level, you just gotta kill a mob to level.

there are two ways you have arena and catacombs. arena is basically soloing and youll need good gear to solo
at the hgiher levels. so for the meantime catacombs will be your best bet. this is where you join other groups.

keep in mind though that you should gear yourself a bit before doing so. if you avergae little damage, youll be
called a leech and finding groups may be dififcult.

go for as much ee on a weapon. its lvl 0 60ee, lvl 5 80ee lvl 10 100ee and so on and so forth. those are
the highest possible goes up in 20 ee increments. get the highest possible keeping in mind your budget on fg
